Murano glass inevitably evokes the great masters of venetian glass in our imaginations. Venetian masters who, having inherited the use of sodium oxide glass from the Orient, became the greatest experts in the crafting of molten glass based on their correct assumption that glass would be extremely malleable if blown and modelled whilst incandescent.
From medieval times onwards, due to arab and asian influences which had spread through trade at the port of Venice, their creations, which had developed through their great artistry and centuries of experience, became highly sought after all over the world.
The beauty, the fascination of all these different aspects, together with a love of Venice and its history, have always held a special attraction for us, leading us to the creation of a line of jewellery in silver, in which these wonderful small pieces of glass are set as if they were precious stones, with their infinite colour possibilities.
The insertion of 24 carat gold leaf or platinum leaf inside the glass itself, gives a unique and extraordinary effect in the light, as if it had been struck by lightening. This showed us the direction to take: the creation of the collection “Vetro Sommerso” (Submerged Glass) which was a huge international success and which was the basis of the evolution of the collections in the wonderful line ‘Disegni di Luce’.
This line is a definitely winner. The design is contemporary and warm in natural silver, made entirely by hand and beautifully crafted and finished by our silversmiths. The collections with their colour ‘narratives’ are the stuff of dreams and have found favour with clients all over the world.
